49 Alaska Writing Center and Cirque Magazine
Join us for a reading by renown nature writer, Marybeth Holloman, followed by a group invitational reading of work published in issue number 5 of Cirque, a regional journal created to share with the rest of the world the best writing of the northern region.
Doors open at 8:00
Readings begin at 9:00 sharp

January 21st
Third Friday Opening Reception 5:30 – 7:00 PM
Featuring work by the winners of the Statewide Scholastic High School Art and Writing Awards. For the second year in a row the MTS Gallery will host the winning visual art works from among the submissions in this year’s statewide juried high school art competition. This year for the first (but not the last) time, we will also feature the winners of the statewide high school writing competition as well. Catering by Tap Root Café

January 21st
Films that Won’t Make Milwaukee Famous – 7:30 PM
Following the opening reception on Third Friday, MTS Gallery will feature 7 brand new short films by faculty members and fellow graduate students of filmmaker Michael Walsh from UW Milwaukee. Walsh is currently working on his MFA in film and will screen and discuss the films, including his own recent work.
January 22nd
Scholastic Art & Writing Awards Presentation – 4:00 PM
Winners of the Statewide Scholastic Art & Writing competition will receive awards followed by a short reading of the winning writing submissions by professional actors and readers.
